However, this is not the same as grading a pattern and doesn't result in a graded pattern file. The human touch is still essential in making judgment calls that software simply can't anticipate.

As someone who has worked with both CLO3D and Optitex extensively, I can confidently say that these tools are invaluable for freelance pattern makers. These grade rules are then applied to specific points on the pattern using the CAD software.
